This Privacy Policy explains how SmartGarden ('we', 'us', 'our') collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the Silent Angel Signal (SAS) application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. Data We Collect
SAS collects the following data to provide its core safety features: (a) Location data — your precise GPS coordinates, updated every 30 seconds during an active alert, used to generate a live tracking link sent to your trusted contacts. (b) Phone contacts — the names and phone numbers you manually add as trusted contacts within the app. (c) Audio and video recordings — captured during an active RED alert if you have a Premium subscription and have enabled stealth recording. Recordings are stored locally on your device only. (d) Device information — Android version and device model, used for crash reporting and compatibility.
3. How We Use Your Data
Location data is used solely to generate your live tracking link during an active alert and is shared only with the trusted contacts you have configured. Contact information is stored locally on your device and is used only to send SMS alerts. Audio and video recordings are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Data Storage
All data collected by SAS — including your trusted contacts, PIN, alert history, and any recordings — is stored locally on your device. We do not operate a central server that stores your personal data. Live tracking links are served via a temporary session that expires when the alert is disarmed.
5. Permissions Required
SAS requires the following Android permissions: ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (for GPS tracking), SEND_SMS (to send alert messages to your contacts), RECORD_AUDIO (for stealth audio recording — Premium only), CAMERA (for stealth video recording — Premium only), FOREGROUND_SERVICE (to run in the background while monitoring for the volume trigger), and RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED (to restart the background service after device reboot). All permissions are requested at the time they are needed and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
6. Third-Party Services
SAS uses OpenStreetMap's Nominatim API to convert GPS coordinates into a UK street address. No personal data beyond the GPS coordinates is sent to this service, and no data is retained by OpenStreetMap. AdSense advertising is served on the SmartGarden website (not within the app itself) by Google LLC under their own privacy policy.
7. Children's Privacy
SAS is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
8. Your Rights Under UK GDPR
You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. You have the right to object to processing and to data portability. 9. Data Retention
Data stored locally on your device is retained until you delete the app or clear its data. Temporary live tracking sessions expire automatically when an alert is disarmed or after 24 hours, whichever comes first.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the 'Last updated' date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
